Ok, I know you are still recovering from the crash and want to include other things first - but I found another way to maybe use other 3d-programs (like Maya, 3dsMax, Cinema 4d ...) with BURP - and even with an open source renderer!

There are several OpenSource renderers (like Pixie, Aqsis or jrMan), exporters to RenderMan files for many 3d-programs and it\'s a rather well documented standard.

Maybe one day in 2008 we may not only send in .blend files... ;-)

I\'m not sure what you\'re trying to say, but RenderMan is a commercial rendering app.

I assume that what Happy Hippo ment was the RISpec - a specification sometimes reffered to as \"RenderMan\".
It is very similar to OpenGL and several opensource renderers exist that implement it.

Exactly how the specification handles the data is something that will be looked into while figuring out whether this will be feasible for BURP.
