I don\'t know sice when, but currently I get a message I never saw before. see subject..
The box has a \"Maximum daily WU quota per CPU\" of 400.
So what does this quota mean now?

Thanks

It means that you\'ve returned a bunch of bad results. Your quota goes down by one for every *bad result you return. Once you start returning good results your quota will double with each one up to the maximum set by the project.

What computer is it happening on? I don\'t have the time to go through your entire host list.

* Bad can mean a couple of different things. Either the results errored out for some reason, didn\'t download properly or were invalid. There\'s probably a few other things I\'m leaving out, but those are the highlights.

Sorry, but I don\'t think you are right.

AS I said the Host has currently a daily quote of 400, not 2 (per CPU).
E.g. it is this host.
But not only this one.

That\'s probably the \"4 tasks in progress\" limit. Once you upload a result back, you\'d get more.

The project currently imposes a limit of 4 simultaneous tasks per host. This was in response to a problem where hosts would complete WUs for a session that didn\'t take very long to render, and then ask for a bunch with a session that did take a while to render.

It also keeps hosts from stockpiling a bunch of work that gets sent in after the session has completed rendering.

Gah.

Never respond to posts when there are screaming children in the background.

I promise from here on out to not read boards until after I\'ve gotten home from work.

Sorry about that. Now I\'ll just go and hide over there ---------->

For me the problem was now:
The host got only 4 WU\'s.
Finished them very fast, and waited some time to report the finished tasks.
Reason was :
It got no work (due to the limit) and decided to wait some long time until trying getting some more work.

about your problem... isn\'t there no function in the boinc system called \'report results immediately\'??? it would solve the waiting for work problem but will also cause more load on project server/db cos the clients contact the server after each finished wu. maybe this \'function\' can be configured so that clients report after 2 finished wu\'s???
janus, is this possible??

I\'m not sure it is possible to configure the client to run two results and then report them, but \'report results immediately\' should do the trick.

Also see this thread for a change in the per-host limit logic (basically taking #cores into account).

Agreed, but the last boinc client i know off which had this feature is the 8url=http://boinc.truxoft.com/core-opt.htm]truXoft one[/url].
Can you tell me how to tell the boinc client to do so?

Are you still having the issue? The serverside logic for this was changed.

I see that I now have more than 4 tasks per machine. What is the limit now? Or is there one?

Sorry, but I think it might be stoill the same.
For now I only got short WU.
Short means here they are start immediatly and the comuting time is lower than the reconnection time I have on the host I used to test.
So in the time the host was in \"retry connection\"I finished at least one WU, and so during the next update the host got again one WU, and was happy.
But if the WU\'s were all(2 cores) longer than the retry time, it would increase the retry time by (I don\'t know).
But I know this gets sometimes over 1 day, assuming the server always return no work (unsuccessful).
