So, it looks like the next version of Mac OS X, 10.6 \"Snow Leopard\" will include what Apple calls OpenCL (Open Computing Language), which will make it easy for programmers to use the GPU for general computing. Should be interesting for BOINC, having more processing power available for crunching without actually adding anything.

Somewhat similar to CUDA and CTM I guess - all the big guys know that we want programmability of the specialized streaming hardware processors but there is no standard yet.

From the brief in this article, it would seem that Apple would like to make OpenCL (based on C) an open standard.
