Hi. I have problem suspending blender work on linux machines. WU is appearing suspended but on proces listing it is running. For example, when boinc on my linux server decide to switch to another wu, blender is suspended an for example minirosetta is startet. Than when I list my processes, blender is eating 50% of cpu and rosetta another 50. It is very annoying. I sometimes need to suspend boinc for an hour (boinc_cmd --set_run_mode never 3600) ant with blender running this is not possible. Please have a look at it Janus. PS: off topic: will blender community implement chceckpointing? (save state) Does they have it on plan? |

Blender isn't suspending because there is no feature for this. While the boinc client can stop, blender itself is either running all the time, or looses work. This is where checkpointing would come in. ~Hope this helps, Istvan |

This problem has been added to the Known Problems page. The current Linux client does indeed seem to have several issues regarding suspending workunits. Additionally, if a workunit completes while it is "suspended" it is quite likely to fail. |
