Hey guys,

I decided to start a kind of a news thread on http://www.renderfarm.fi. Feel free to ask any questions about the service here - I'll try to answer to the best of my knowledge. In case you've missed us so far, we're another BURP using distributed rendering service. We differ from burp.renderfarming.net in things such as policy and front-end, but mostly use and develop the same code pool for the back-end.

I decided it's time to write here as BOINC clients attached to us are currently crunching the first Blender 2.5 session with BURP. The test is looking good (although there are some library issues still in the 64bit Linux client release - we're on it) and I'd like to invite you all to come crunch and help us test the new client. The client builds could later be used here at burp.renderfarming.net as well.

Cool news as we're deploying 32 bit and 64 Mac OSX clients (Blender 2.5A2) today. I'd thus like to invite any people with Macs to join the project.

Thus begins my lament, as I'm but a poor boy with a PowerPC Mac on my desk. I do have an Intel in the MacBook, but it's not used nearly as much. My cluster in general has been turned down just a notch due to the fact that I now pay my own power bills :P

I suppose this is a step in the right direction for bringing Mac support back to BURP, though...

Cool news *again* (well hit me around and call me Susan, we're on a row here):

We just released the new version of the Renderfarm.fi distribution of Blender 2.5A2. For those unfamiliar with the "uploader" script that is built-in to our version of Blender: the uploader, among other things, accesses the (BURP) XMLRPC interface at Renderfarm.fi to enable you to easily upload work to be rendered on top of the service. The new version includes additional features:

# Settings verification: the uploader will now help you in preparing your .blend file for a successful render on Renderfarm.fi
# Session management: you will now be able to list your own sessions, see their progress and even cancel sessions that haven't been accepted yet
# More intuitive use: You are no longer required to remember your user id, just your e-mail and password Renderfarm.fi will suffice
# Version updates: You can easily check for new builds from within Blender

You can download 32bit and 64bit versions for Linux, Windows and Mac OSX (sorry Noderaser, only Intel macs again) at http://www.renderfarm.fi/blender.
