No, the roadmap covers the entire development period (including the rendering). I can't say anything about when the bulk of the rendering will be; but it is probably going to start quite soon. Most of the data is on the farm now. There are no show-stoppers left and final preparations are going to the in-house farm tomorrow. |

![]() BURP will be rendering Big Buck Bunny! The Blender Foundation made Big Buck Bunny and released all the files under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license for everyone to learn from and play with. Originally the movie was only rendered for standard HD screens. We are going to re-render BBB in cinema quality 4k HDRI, 60 fps, 3D stereo! Not only will we have a very high quality version of BBB to give back to the Blender community, we will also have a perfect opportunity to improve BURP while making it; and to show that it is actually possible. And not just that, during the next year or so people will be allowed to link their own animations to the BBB production files and produce their own open variations over the same theme (or even over completely different themes but using some or all of the same files mixed with their own: think take-outs, alternative endings, new characters, new story and so on). The whole point is to develop BURP the same way that Blender has been developed - by taking it through an actual production and making the necessary improvements to make everything work. I bid you all a very warm welcome to the Sunflower event! |

I am excited! RAM just arrived in the mail today and I'm downloading the files as we speak. |

* At least 6 GB of RAM free, preferably more The currently rendered sessions are well below 6 GB - just a little above 1 GB. Couldn't we allow hosts with less than 6 GB for those "lighter" sessions? |

* At least 6 GB of RAM free, preferably more I wouldn't rule it out entirely at this point. |

The first pass through the Sunflower sessions has been rendered. These are the sessions that are not affected by issues in Blender or lack of features in BURP. Next up are the sessions that include physics simulations and then all the sessions that include characters (those that currently fail to load in Blender 2.49b but should work well in 2.46). We're taking a short break with the Sunflower renders for Windows until after the next monday maintenance in order to prepare the next batch. |

Hi, is there some "global" progress for this movie rendering? PS: In past days I had some wu's which was computed more than few hours (and did nothing with cpu or hdd). It somehow freeze or what. I dont have any link (it could be this, but I am not sure, http://burp.renderfarming.net/workunit.php?wuid=1645095) for that wu, but Ill try to catch them again. PPS: Render error, white dots on tree "armpit"... http://xmlrpc.burp.renderfarming.net/img_handler.php?session=1214&frame=422&part=1 (wu http://burp.renderfarming.net/workunit.php?wuid=1645173) |

Hi, is there some "global" progress for this movie rendering? Yes, the overall progress for the entire event can be followed on the Sunflower roadmap page here: http://development.burp.renderfarming.net/projects/burp/roadmap. There's a page for the actual movie rendering too (in that list) but keep in mind that this is only a "small part" of the entire Sunflower event which is focused on improving BURP. white dots on tree "armpit"... http://burp.renderfarming.net/forum_thread.php?id=1909&nowrap=true |

This sounds wonderful. When we start rendering movies will the client support checking pointing, eg after each hour or so with each 10MB upload? Have a crunching good day |

I'm sorry, I should have made myself more clear: We're already rendering the movie, but the event called "Sunflower" is more than just the the movie - there's a lot of coding done as well. This is what the roadmap tracks. This page has progress for the movie rendering alone: http://development.burp.renderfarming.net/issues/108 |

Cool. I'm not sure if I'll be able to help with the video rendering. Reason been the largest file I have in my Burp folder is 'file1882711' size 300,711kb created 05:53:23 UTC on 10/02/11 As I type I'm working on session 1212 Have a crunching good day |

I'm sorry, I should have made myself more clear Session 1212 aka "Sunflower A.03.06.L" is the left eye view of Section 3, scene 6. In other words, I'm fairly certain that you are helping already =) The diskspace requirements mentioned on some of the sessions in there is the total disk space needed - including input files, temporary files generated during rendering and the final output files. |

I'm sorry, I should have made myself more clear Thanks for that. I sure have contributed to the video. Have a crunching good day |

Things are going well, we're slightly behind the 1-year schedule because I can't prepare the <6GB RAM scenes fast enough compared to how fast the farm renders it. At the same time the >6GB RAM sessions seem to crop up a bit in the queue. I think this will probably even out a bit over time. Starting next week there's going to be a break for some weeks. During this time no new sessions will enter the queue, but the sessions already in the queue will be rendered as usual. This means that mostly sessions with a memory requirement above 6GB will be available. After the break the first preview of section 1 (1 of 13 sections) should be online, and a new bunch of sessions will be released for rendering. |

At the same time the >6GB RAM sessions seem to crop up a bit in the queue. Too less users with an appropriate amount of RAM probably. I hate to see all these sessions above 8 GB RAM and can't crunch on it. :-( If I had known this, I would have probably ordered the double amount of RAM back that time... Currently I only can wait that there will be some less demanding sessions again. Life is Science, and Science rules. To the universe and beyond Proud member of BOINC@Heidelberg My BOINC-Stats ![]() |
