I am getting alot of crashed workunits too... I leave the computer alone for a few hours and return to it to see half a dozen windows popups saying that the sunflower blender process crashed and if I want to close it.

These may be different issues altogether. Vaughan's workunits have this error:
http://burp.renderfarming.net/result.php?resultid=6925459

and Neogen has different errors:
http://burp.renderfarming.net/result.php?resultid=6931651

The fact that it pops up a window is very unfortunate, I'll have a look at how to avoid this (again).
Neogen, if you can figure out why BOINC is killing BURP then you can avoid the popups - check that you have "Leave apps in memory while suspended" enabled.

I thought as soon as BOINC connected to the network, it would pick up the settings I had before I formatted and reinstalled windows earlier but I guess it didn't.
Although I have 16GB of RAM, when I looked up the settings to see the "Leave apps in memory while suspended" setting I noticed another one that was off... the setting "Use only % of memory while machine is in use" was only set to 50% I guess by boinc default.
The boinc log message showed
8/20/2011 7:19:56 PM | | max memory usage when active: 8187.07MB

And after setting that setting to 90%
8/21/2011 9:05:57 PM | | max memory usage when active: 14736.72MB

So I guess it could be that boinc couldn't get its hands on enough memory for BURP?
I will give it a try and see how it does now.
