For the past few months we have been rendering mostly medium-length workunits that have a running time of 1-9 hours on modern machines. The remaining sessions for the Sunflower event mostly all contain very long workunits.
If you often turn off your computer without using hibernation or standby then now is a good time to temporarily switch to one or more other BOINC projects that either use checkpointing or have shorter workunits.

Bring on the monster units!

As an additional piece of news we are now testing out Blender 2.62 on the Linux portion of the farm. You no longer need to convert your scenes to 2.4x format to have them rendered.

When the longer units start how long will the deadlines be? I'm currently work on 1454 & deadline is 18 hours, run time was 1hr 6mins & upload was 19.83MB. Do you have any idea of how big the result files needing to be uploaded will be?

Edit= I answered question re deadlines

Apparently a lot longer.
I got two remaining WUs yesterday from session 1458, which runtime goes up, and deadline was about two months. Guess this will fit for the slow sessions also.
Had to cancel these because I don't think I can finish them before the BOINC Pentathlon starts... ;-)

The uploads shouldn't be much bigger I guess. Highest upload for a session I ever had here was 26MB.
