As part of a database and general systems upgrade the Monday maintenance windows has been extended until Wednesday evening. Expect the website to look a bit weird from time to time as software components are being switched around.

Hi Janus,

is it normal, I get more WU's than in the past?
This computer http://burp.renderfarming.net/show_host_detail.php?hostid=63083 used to get 5 WU's, but currently I already have 12, and it seems with every request I get 4 more.

That was certainly not the intention - that computer should have been limited to 4 queued WUs not 20. I think I fixed it, thanks for the heads-up!
The way that queue sizes are calculated has changed a bit - before there was a limit of 5 WUs but now faster machines get a bit more and slower machines get a bit less - and you should be able to get all the WUs you can get in just one scheduler request.
There's a separate queue for GPU units (or rather, at the moment you cannot queue up GPU units but while running one it will not count in the CPU unit queue).

Two harddrives just bit the dust and were replaced yesterday. It has been a very hot week in most of Europe, it was probably the heat that finally made them kick the bucket. Luckily the drives were in a raid configuration where they could simply be swapped out with new ones.

For the past few months the hosting platform that runs BURP has been under a sustained DDoS/spam attack from a fairly large botnet. A while ago the spam was effectively blocked so that their success-rate is now down to 0% but they still keep trying and it ties up some of the server resources to handle the connections.
As a counter-measure we're going to ramp up on some of the firewall and routing rules. If you suddenly find yourself completely unable to access the BURP website please try logging in from somewhere else and post back here. We're working very carefully trying not to hit any ordinary users but in the very unlikely event that there's a false positive we will of course fix it ASAP!

As part of the upgrade a new configuration parameter was accidentally left out while upgrading the scheduler. The default value was such that the BURP backend would constantly think that new work needed to be added. As a consequence we will be running without intelligent scheduling for a little while until the number of unsent results goes below 300 again.

I see that there are GPU tasks available, but nothing is downloading. Is that because of this issue, or something else? I also notice that the BOINC server status says the upload/download server is disabled. But that could be the old BOINC bug where the status is not accurate.
