I think I quite need the context here, I'm not up to date with reddit stuff...

Recently a lot of Reddit.com users have been unhappy about management in Reddit (the corporation). A week ago the entire site pretty much burst into a full scale war when management fired key personel responsible for the AskMeAnything subreddit without having a plan for the future. Many of the volunteer moderators considered it the last drop that made the cup run over. Many subreddits turned private in response, including almost all of the default frontpage subreddits.

Some people arranged to use the 10th as a Do-Not-Use-Reddit-day in order to show Reddit investors just how unhappy they were about the state of affairs - some of the subreddits turned private once again.

As a consequence the interim Reddit.com CEO, Ellen Pao, has now been kicked from her position.

Complicated.
