A (possibly) simple suggestion: Simply display the rendering engine used for the project on the project page. Probably could be done automatically by reading the .blend either by blender with a python script, or an external application, but I haven't tried it and don't know if it would be complicated to automate.
The suggested feature doesn't really have a practical application (unless paired with a client option to only render BI or cycles), but could be used for knowledge of people viewing the finished renders.

Noted. Thanks for the feature suggestion!
Currently we do actually parse this information from the .blend-file but the information is thrown away fairly early in the initial tests. There are other parts of the rendering pipeline that can benefit from knowing if a session is Blender Internal or Blender+Cycles; e.g. the validation system, the resource estimation system, the web frontend...
