I just had a question about how this will work with clusters... I\'m hoping to set up a beowulf style cluster in the near future (Or maybe go mosix). How would burp deal with this? Would it send multiple jobs for multiple processors, or would it only send a single job to the cluster, thinking that it\'s a single machine?

If the cluster appears to BOINC as a machine with X CPUs then you only need to adjust the maximum allowed number of CPUs on the account page under preferences.

If the cluster appears as a single CPU then BOINC will only download 1 unit and it will jump around in the cluster.

I think I have heard of people who successfully set up a beowulf cluster and ran BOINC on it with 64 nodes.

One thing to notice is that right when BOINC starts (if it has already got a lot of work downloaded) it can generate a lot of load on the network because of all the new processes.

Also you can run BOINC individually on each node from a network share with multiple installations. Don\'t know if this would work with beowulf or mosix though.

If you are setting up the cluster specifically for BOINC, it would be better to reconsider. BOINC deals best with the machines individually. If, however, you are setting up the cluster for other reasons, then by all means, go ahead.
