I have a 64 core and 48 core system running these projects occasionally. While I realize their reported "time left" is usually way off, the project still consumes 100% of the CPU cores while it does the projects that can take up to a day or more to complete.

I wish to limit the number of cores the project can use to around 8 or 16 cores so other projects can still run concurrently with it.

This is my app_config.
<app_config>
<app>
<name>blender</name>
<max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>
</app>
<app_version>
<app_name>blender</app_name>
<plan_class>mt</plan_class>
<avg_ncpus>16</avg_ncpus>
<cmdline>--nthreads 8</cmdline>
</app_version>
</app_config>

However, it doesn't seem to make any difference. My 64 core rig still claims that it's utilizing all 64 cores.

Well I think it is working after all. Shortly after making this post I decided to see how much CPU the task was utilizing and it's claiming that it's only using 800% of the CPUs which in linux = 8 cores @ 100%.

Other tasks have begun running as a result.

Yup, looks correct so far.
Been a while since somebody asked that, but when that happens I always refer to a post I made years ago like this. Maybe we should make a sticky for it that everyone can look at?
