I\'ve just taken a quick look at the BURP code. In clients/blender/HOWTO you write the patches should be applied to Blender from CVS and the update script seems to really checkout the current head version.
There are some problems we should expect:
Since we checkout a head revision, every client compiles with different code. Different render outputs (partly caught by the validator?) or incompatible patchsets could be the result. I think we should always use the same (stable) revisions as the official client, this could avoid many problems.

Indeed this may be the case (and has been the case before).
Basically you are free to experiment as much as you like with the code. If it happens to generate something that isn\'t supposed to be there it\'s the responsibility of the validator to take care of it (although it is currently too simple to do that).
You can always find the official revision by launching the official executable. The version number is on the pop-up welcome screen.
