Because supporting a single renderer is already too much work :) I think it will be supported on beta stage, hopefully earlier.

Once BURP leaves beta; I\'m sure the devs would be open to suggestions. As for me, I\'m behind you all the way.

Oh there are some renderers I\'d like to have in BURP... (commercial ones not mentioned)

- Indigo (closed source unfortunately)
- Pixie or some other RenderMan IS renderer (Open Source!)
- LuxRender (Open Source, unbiased renderer)
- YafRay was mentioned by Janus a few weeks/months ago to be included \"soon\" if I recall correctly

Unfortunately Yafray pretty much died (but is being replaced by YafARay which will form the base for 0.1.x afaik). Yafray or Yafaray will most likely be supported through our Blender patchset at some point. The people from RenderPlanet have been able to get the old 0.8.x branch working with distributed rendering, which proves it possible.
Whether Yafray will be directly supported (ie. through direct XML upload) is a good question.

We\'ve gotten the go-ahead from the PovRay devs to include a modified version of PovRay as a new patchset. Whether this is the way we are moving is also a good question since there is already another project (IMP) working with PovRay in a slightly similar way to what BURP is doing.

Pixie is very interesting and so is supporting the Renderman interface. Luxrender uses a somewhat similar interface.

I\'m not going to put a guess on when we will see tests of these in action.

Oooh yeah, I\'ve been dreaming about seeing Indigo on BURP as well. So much of the \"fun\" of using Indigo is waiting for its results to converge though -- for it to work with a system like BURP you\'d have to choose bailout values in advance, and I\'d hate to have to do that... I know I\'d either pick something too high and feel guilty about wasting people\'s cycles, or else I\'d pick something too low and be unhappy with the render. *grumble*
