In my opinion this is very strange that job which have this messages:
\"2007-04-16 13:19:15|BURP|Result 368in0.zip__ses0000000368_frm0000000121_prt00019.wu_5 is 0.42 days overdue.
2007-04-16 13:19:15|BURP|You may not get credit for it. Consider aborting it.\"
is rendering still... I think this job should be automatic deleted by my BOINC client instead rendering !!! I say more: Sorry... but in my opinion this behaviour of BURP (BOINC) is very stupid and only waste CPU time and electric energy ;) !!!

Not all projects enforce the deadline so how is BOINC to know which projects do and which don\'t ? At least 2 projects I know of (CPDN and MalariaControl) will accept workunits that are over the \"deadline\"

Unfortunately this is part of the core client, and out of control from janus.

I\'ve seen some time ago some extensions to the core client, which did this automatically.
I assume if you like to discuss features of the core client go to these message boards

BURP uses short deadlines to force BOINC into running BURP WUs whenever there are any (of course taking project resource shares into account). This is because render results usually have to be completed \"right now\" but BOINC doesn\'t offer such a setting and will try to cache up as many units on one machine as the \"connect-to-network every X days\"-setting tells it to.
The BOINC people have a future feature called \"low latency project\". However this isn\'t implemented yet so we\'re enforcing it the ugly way (giving you messages about deadlines that you can safely ignore).

In other words: The deadlines are there to force the program to act correctly, it merely confuses the users. Sorry, but that\'s the way it has to be right now.

Latest BOINC now supports a way for the server to tell the client to abort workunits past deadline. Maybe that way they could remove the user-scaring message, as it would be automatic; and BURP would not use this mechanism if the deadlines aren\'t enforced.

@ Janus: OK. I understand.

May be this is the solution :).
