When in linux I click to suspend burp (suspend to ram I have enabled) , the burp wu is \"suspended\" and another wu starts. buth top command is teling me that blender is running and consuming spu.

I wanted to suspend burp wu, because I run some compilation (emerge -pvu world :D) and burp doesnt like to run without cpu -> return code -10 http://burp.boinc.dk/result.php?resultid=2156408

PS: and some other return cone apeared on my machine. -9 http://burp.boinc.dk/result.php?resultid=2173653

PPS: now the burp running on my linux pc without need of instaling blender. (so, proably fixed version of client you released, or, on this pc I have needed libs)

Another \"bug\"?

In linux client version 4.55 on doing wu http://burp.boinc.dk/workunit.php?wuid=434894 i noticed, that after 89.614% done, the boinc process (boinc daemon) get 100% CPU ussage and this is the end. I am not able to run boinc manager (it probably wait to get some response brom daemon) and my way to solve this problem, was to call \"kill 9343\". It doesnt killed boinc daemon. So next command was \"kill -9 9343\". Than I start boinc client again. After about 6 hours of work appeared same situation, same problem, same wu, same solution. After that I have manualy aborted that wu.

What was the problem? (this pc is new to boinc in linux. To near past I have running on this pc only boinc in winxp)

Which version of the core client are you running?
If you are running an old version please try upgrading to the newest stable version for your system.
If you are running the newest stable version try upgrading to the newest beta client.
If you are running a beta client please try downgrading to the newest stable client.

If the issue remains please post the content of stderr and stdout found in the slot/XXXX directory corresponding to BURP under your BOINC folder after killing it, since the BOINC client does not send this error report back to the server when it dies.

Again the same proble. boinc process has 100% of cpu, boinc manager unable to start, \"luvar@blackhorse ~/boinc $ ./boinc_cmd --get_state\" also freezes.

I will kill boinc process and I will continue in other work than burp. I have some feeling, that errors starts appearing only on session 450 and afret instaling blender to linux. Please give some advices, how to solve this problem.

PS: no err out from boinc.

I am using lastest stable version (I hope). No other version tried.

blackhorse luvar # boinc/boinc --version
5.8.16 i686-pc-linux-gnu

blackhorse boinc # tail -n 25 slots/2/std*

I also have the problem with BOINC freezing. It appeared only after the client upgraded to version 4.55. I\'m running it on Fedora 7, kernel 2.6.21-1.3228.fc7, BOINC version 5.10.7, AMD athlon64 3500+, 1280 MB of memory. Had the same problem with a older beta client also.
I have now the project set to \"no new work\" until a solution is found.

Hm... a little bit odd considering that this seems to happen just after the BURP code hands back control to the BOINC client so that it can start the next workunit...

Two questions:
1) When this happens, is the blender process still alive?
2) Can you actually suspend the workunit during computation (ie. before it all goes down the drain)

Bonus question:
Does this happen with the newest beta BOINC client for linux?

Yes, 5.10.7 is the newest development version of BOINC client for linux.

For your other two questions I can\'t help, because I didn\'t check if the blender process was still alive. Didn\'t try suspending so can\'t help with that either.

edit: All other projects work fine, only BURP causes problems.

No client can connect to boinc daemon. boincmngr (graphical) freezes, and it starts after killing boinc. The boinc_cmd client does the same. (freeze)

Now I start to do some wus for burb, and the first (about 10 minutes long) is done without error. when the boinc freezes again, Ill make some ps -aux | grep blender

PS: Off topic: why only one session is rendering? (some sessions started to be rendered and than disapeared. only background one is there)

Ok, this is weird. I took and aborted two units yesterday as they caused the BOINC to hang and were past the deadline. Now as I look at top it has two blender processes running and it seems that they have been running from the time I aborted them. BOINC manager shows no BURP workunits and the BOINC slots directory doesn\'t contain anything related to BURP.
edit: BOINC is running a rosetta wu currently alongside the blender processes

IMHO it can be caused by som bug, which is causing, that I unable to suspend working burb wu. I reported it in this thread, in first post. (after suspending, burp process is running and eating cpu :)

Cross-linking threads (about the \"boinc using all CPU\" problem).
