I have 2 machines running BOINC. running Blender 4.55 their recent WU\'s have been running full time to complete on time. However, they are over the due date while running 100% of cpu time for 24 hours straight.

for example:
http://burp.boinc.dk/result.php?resultid=2176654

It has 34 hours of runtime and is only 78%. It was due last night.

1. can the completion date/time be moved our a couple of days to a more reasonable target? BURP is monopolizing my machines to meet deadline.

2. will I get credit for letting finish or should I abort it?

Thanks in advance

Janus,

Thanks for your reply.

\"The deadlines aren\'t hard deadlines (ie. it doesn\'t matter whether you return results too late). They are merely guidelines for BOINC to correctly schedule its work. You will be creditted even if your results are \"in late\".\"

However, my first point is that due to the deadling BOINC scheduler is putting BURP at 100% and not doing any other projects. Seems that it would be \"nice\" to share some time. My Einstein, Seti, and Rosetta WU\'s have not gotten any time in over a day as BOINC tries to get BURP down by it now expired deadline.

Just my opinion.

BOINC will stop getting new work, if you are in danger of going past the deadline for the non-BURP units, so you won\'t loose any WUs by running BURP. If you\'re trying to balance out your projects so that BURP isn\'t using as much CPU-time, you could set BURP to a lower resource share, so it would get work units less often.

Personally, I\'d rather have a BURP unit going than something else, but I have \"backup\" projects in case BURP is down or out of work. I do this by setting my BURP resource share to 1000, and the other projects to 10 or 1 depending on my internal ranking system. So far, I haven\'t gone past a deadline for WUs on the other projects.

Furthermore the client does work-fetch calculations based on a longterm prediction and shortterm prediction - both based on the idea of \"debts\". Once your client has reached the level of contribution that you have selected in your preferences it will start spreading the workload more evenly between the projects again.

well I had a WU 90% complete report the system ran out of memory hmm last
time I checked it had 2GB memory and blender was using 250mb
+ when BOINC is running a WU from BURP it will not run any others until its complete but this problem has occurred several times over the last month
? as you can see with my results + it would state est completion time 9 hours
and the last one was still going after 20 hours ? lastely when I stopped BURP
the BOINC completed all other WU\'s and I recieved 1300 credits in 8 hours
might be due to having a 3.33 MHZ CPU will try one more WU if the site allows me
to download and will try to keep tract of it better to see if it is a
out of memory problem

On several WU\'s I receive a counting error due to unrecoverable error for result.....after 98% were done and the blender 4.55 exe always give problems
I wish I can fly like a bird in the sky ....
