If you offer unlimited WU\'s my PC will calculate nonstop your project because it\'s the only one with too little time.

It won\'t, it simply won\'t get more BURP work after some time, because CPU time debt will have increased for other projects.

Don\'t forget to set resend_lost_results if you use this, otherwise the server may not send work to hosts if a result is lost.

Yes, I found out the hard way last time I was testing it. However, I forgot to add it to the documentation. Wiki updated now - others may find it useful too, I guess.

This one was fixed in http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/changeset/13101.

Any idea why there are no frame/part previews for completed WUs in session 450?

The frame your computer rendered did not match other two, so it was marked as invalid by the validator. It might be the problem with your hardware, or maybe just slight incompatibility with other hosts - Janus can answer this better, as he can check the actual output of your PC.

Go to server status page. If your session is not there, it most probably was rejected. Otherwise, you\'ll see the status there.

Cohiba: you know those animated movies, say, Shrek or Finding Nemo or Toy story or...? They are created using 3D modeling software, however, what you see in the program is far from the final result that you see - the output of the program is much like a sketch of an artist before he paints the painting. The conversion of that sketch into the final result is very computationally intensive, and the animation companies usually have thousands of computers converting (rendering) the models into the final movie frames.

BURP aims to help standalone artists - they don\'t usually have hunderds of computers, and they can produce some really nice artwork (a very good example is http://burp.boinc.dk/session.php?id=139 - this would have taken 140 days to render on a single computer!). They can upload .blend files that are produced with a 3D modeling software package named Blender, and our computers are used to render the frames.

I hope this is clear enough; Wikipedia has an article on rendering if you want to read more.

There is a solution to this problem: allow search by username and by ID. If ID is entered, behave like it is now, if username is entered, check if it is unique. If it is, we\'re good, else complain and ask for ID. This is how I am implementing private message functionality in BOINC forum.

Checking to see why my mirror hasn\'t been activated yet, and noticed -2-2<synced/> in sync log. What does it mean?

Additionally, when I created a mirror I entered 9999 as network quota, but it got changed to some very small value (like 1e-10, I don\'t have the old value anymore). I changed the config file to correctly have 9999.

EDIT: It does take unusually long for some results to be validated, however; Examples here and here. But that could be related to the Monday maintenance.

These results still need quorum of 3.

Actually, BOINCstats does not count active hosts based on RAC. If a host received credit during the last 7 days, it is deemed active, otherwise not.

[edit] Or maybe it\'s not 7, but 30 days... Still, RAC is not used.

That\'s basically 25*60*25=37500 frames per episode, meaning 187500 workunits (if splitframe rendering is not used). I have no idea how long your frames will take to render, let\'s say, 4 hours each on average, meaning 750000 CPU hours. Wow. That\'s like 1000 computers working full time for a month.

I hope that I overestimated CPU usage requirements :) If not, it\'s going to be a huge test for BURP, but I really hope that it would be able to handle rendering. Having things like this to render would surely bring more interest to the project, therefore bringing in more CPU time.

One thing to note, it would be best if you could make your sessions so that 256MB of RAM is sufficient, as anything above would lower the available CPU time significantly.
