Sunflower A.05.02.L

Sunflower A.05.02.L

Description

Rodents at a tree
The three evil rodents are at a tree watching the rabbit.

This is the left eye view of the stereo video. The right eye is rendered in Session 1199.

This session also serves as one of the first sessions to test the bug-fixes to the Blender duplivert system deployed in the 4.81 (and later) Sunflower clients so that the ground renders correctly.

Man this job requires lots of memory. I have 12GB & I get BURP Message from server: SunflowerBlender needs 11602.00 MB RAM but only 11057.84 MB is available for use. I'll be waiting for next suitable session to be started so I can help.

Have a crunching good day

i have another 'problem' with this session. sometimes my windows 7 is reporting, that blender has crashed and needs to be aborted. i try to ignore this message. rendering process is still running and workunits are all fine.
is it because of heavy hdd / ram usage?!

yours sincerely,
karsten

@Speedy:
Try to raise the memory usage for BOINC in the settings if necessary.
If that doesn't help you probably have to get rid of some other memory-resident programs you are probably running. like AntiVirus etc.

The margin between the memory limit and the requirement for this session is pretty tight and I wondered also if it would work for me, but I set up my quad with a brand new Win 7 on my new SSD and have nothing else on it right now - it works perfectly. :-)

@DoctorNow:
Thanks for that I'd increased the memory on the Burp prefs pg but not in my Boinc client. I'm away laughing now. I see what you mean by you need to close all application the you have open it sits right on the boarder line of my memory limit.

Yeah it's pretty memory heavy. There are going to be 4 more like this one but then it seems like most of the rest will be lower memory sessions again.

A new Linux session with less memory needed would be nice. I only have 6GB but normally finish units within 15 min. and it's running 12h a day.

@stef42: There you go, a new Linux session just entered the queue, enjoy

@baracutio:
This particular scene was particularly hard to prepare because it does not conform to proper Blender file formatting for some of the flowers in the grass. To work around this issue I had to move some code between Blender 2.49 (which had issues loading and rendering the file but has 64-bit support) and 2.46 (which loaded the file perfectly but had a 3.8GB memory limit on Windows). A consequence of this is that Blender prints out a speed-table warning while rendering some of the layers.

The reason why the WU quits unfortunately seems to be that it allocates 2GB of memory more than it is allowed to do (13GB instead of 11GB). I've seen this happen sporadically for short amounts of time - it is quickly de-allocated - and am looking into why this is happening seemingly randomly for this session but have no good explanation yet.
We're right at edge of what is doable with regard to memory use right now. These beasts are massive.

Thanks, will get right on!

Thing is, my Windows 7 is only 32bit, so that leaves Ubuntu
