Render Test Final

Render Test Final

Description

Testing a scene to make sure there are no errors.
This is an animation project in which I've packed in all of the external data so there shouldn't be any errors. I want to see if this renders successfully.

It looks like Blender has all the data available in the .blend-file to render this session.

The session was accepted with a few notes:
1) The scene checker reports:
Dependency cycle detected:
body_variants depends on root through Parent Relation.
root depends on body_variants through Pose Constraint.

Dependency cycle detected:
body_variants depends on root through Parent Relation.
root depends on body_variants through Pose Constraint.

Dependency cycle detected:
rig depends on TaliUncle.LowRes_proxy through Proxy.
TaliUncle.LowRes_proxy depends on rig through Driver.

Dependency cycle detected:
rig depends on Son.lowRes_proxy through Proxy.
Son.lowRes_proxy depends on rig through Driver.

2) The splitframe setting was reverted from 128 to 1 since each frame is expected to take less than 1 hour of rendertime.

3) Are the layers ok?

Fantastic! The layers aren’t properly assigned because I just wanted to see if this file would be accepted. Now that I’ve successfully been able to pack the data, I will polish the animation and upload a final version.

Thank you so much!

Hello what happes with the new WU ???
Deadline is 26 hours.
Host : 81394. Intel 2600k
Estimated running time about one minut.

Using 1.7Gb of RAM from my 16Gb!!!
OK so far
But after 25 minuts, only 0.120% done with estimated remaining of 4 days !
I cancelled.
The second WU : after 10 minuts, only 0.060% done !ç Estimated running : 10 days !!! This for WU name ending with ...27prt00001_0
I aborted.
The same for WU 24prt00001_0
The same for 53prt00001_1
The same for 70prt00001_2

I will not block my host for WU who never will be finished into the delay !

The progress estimator is very inaccurate - especially so for Cycles sessions. Ignore it for now.

Hi Janus,

Thanks for all of your help and work.

I submitted a file and it was accepted by BURP and it seemed to render with no issues. However, it seems as though there are 3 noticeable problems. 1) The turban is pink in the BURP render. 2) The pupils are small in BURP. 3) The eyebrows and hair did not render properly.

I tested the same exact file on a completely different computer and it rendered without those issues.

I've included the two comparison renders.

Do you happen to know where the problem lies?

Again, thank you for everything!

Regards,
Sahib Singh

Those are some weird issues.

The first one (anything being pink) is usually Cycles' way of saying that it is missing a texture or that some part of the texture generation pipeline failed to provide any output. It replaces the texture with full red and blue, which is pink.

I checked out your scene on the test machine with two different profiles - one used for the renderfarm clients and the one that ships as default with Blender. It only has this issue on the renderfarm.
I'm not entirely sure what is going on but the clients unpack all textures etc. to a directory called "textures". This works fine and the files are actually all there.
But the file is marked as "linked" into a library called "Lib.002" located at "//../Characters/cookieFlexRig-1.2.2/Dad Blink.blend", a file that does not exist, so Blender does not even try to read the file from the unpacked location.

You can try it yourself by copying your file to a new folder, opening it in Blender and then selecting "File -> External Data -> Unpack" and do a render.

The data block for those textures is clearly in the Blend-file but the description of their location is really odd when you inspect it with the Outliner tool.

Now, the reason why textures are unpacked is that Cycles initially wanted them as files. This is no longer the case, they now interface directly with Blender, so I'll have a look at removing that step after the weekend.

You truly are the gift that keeps on giving to everyone here at BURP. Thanks for checking it out and let’s hope you can come up with a bypass.

I’m creating an animated short series and I would absolutely love to exclusively use BURP.

I’m holding my breath until Monday!

Thanks again :)

So far so good. We will be updating the client a bit also, so it has ended up taking a bit longer than expected. Maybe tomorrow, no promises.

Is it ok that I trigger a re-render of your session as a test?

Also, what is the structure of your project? The reason I'm asking is that BURP actually does support libraries, there just is no way to upload and manage them from the website yet.
If you are rendering a whole lot of sessions with the same base libraries then maybe we can figure out something.

Great! And feel free to re-render the scene.

In terms of structure, I’m a little bit unclear as to what that means? I apologize in advance, I’m not the greatest with blender terms and references. I’m basically animating two characters in the same space with a little bit of action and a little bit of dialogue. As far as I know, the libraries of files are pretty much the same for the entire scene. I hope that helps answer the question. If not I can clarify and provide more info.

Thanks,
Sahib

Cool, looking at sending out new clients in a few hours.

I was the one being unclear and was talking about the file structure rather than scene structure. Due to limitations in the client it is currently only possible to link to a library that resides in the same directory as the scene or a subdirectory of that directory. It is not possible to link to a library that requires using the parent directory ("../" for most systems) in any way because that is outside the area reserved for rendering data on the clients. The libraries must be linked with paths relative to the .blend.

Awesome! Thanks for clearing that up! The paths for all files are relative in the scene.

Let’s see how the render turns out.

Check out the results over at #3450, seems to look ok with the new clients that skip unpacking for Cycles sessions.

I just now re-assigned the duplicate session to your user, forgot to do that when it was created as a test.
