glass cabinet 3

glass cabinet 3

Description

Another glass cabinet, with flat mirrors and coloured light
This file does not contain any textures. Mesh is very simple - only a few flat, semitransparent mirrors and a few lamps emitting coloured light.
It takes quite some rendertime nevertheless because of transparency shadows, multiple reflections and transparency.
The result should be a play of colours.
I will try to postprocess this with vector motion blur, but because of the mirroring and transparencies I\'m not sure if that will give good results. Multiple-passes motion blurring during rendertime would probably be best, but since that wouldn\'t work with frames split into parts, rendertimes for each frame would be huge, so I refrained of using it.

[UPDATE after render complete]:
Problems with heavy flickering of a single mirror (and the mirrored images of the flickering) in some parts of the scene. Other problem: at the beginning zoom is too narrow (tele), thus picture not good and noise in the picture. The wideangle scenes towards the end are great.
I uploaded a postprocessed xvid file at half resolution; postprocessed outside of Blender. It\'s timeremapped (fast at the beginning, slowing down to the end), motionblurred, noisefiltered, colour enhanced, contrasted. The flickering parts however have to be re-rendered after I determined and eliminated the cause.

In this session a lot of results from my linux client are marked invalid. I can see this problem on other linux clients, too.
See here (just a few examples from different hosts):

I can\'t say anything about the possible Linux problem. The .blend file was created on computer running Windows.

There is another thing I want to discuss. This session (634) renders on BURP for almost two days now and is still at 35%. I highly underestimated the workload, otherwise I would have submitted a shorter version (the second half maybe). On my computer I only rendered smaller resolution stills during design. I\'ll be more prudent in the future.

This leads me to the following question:
Maybe in such cases it would help if the author could cancel an active session and resubmit a corrected version instead?

I just uploaded a postprocessed (not with Blender) xvid movie of this session (annotation in updated session description). The Blender postprocessing is still rendering. If the results of that will be acceptable, I\'ll upload an .avi for that too.
I will have to resubmit a few parts of this animation for rendering, which have to be corrected.
