This render looks really interesting. I hope you upload a post-processed version of the movie including the soundtracks.

hey there...

glad for your interest. feels good...

I have been trying to nail this sucker since way before when....

my blog site is down at the mo, but it tells some stories about how and why i have got here... I am going to try and get it back up over the weekend... however in the meantime (and i guess for previews of what is to come) check out

http://youtube.com/profile_videos?user=julesdg6

where you can see (without the words, and sometimes with music) how this animation has grown.

I only discovered burp recently. previously I have had 6 -> 8 machines of different flavours and powers bundeling together to give me my renders... this video was gonna be like 1/2 a year worth of rendering (probably)... it was never gonna make it out of the lab.

I already see things are on the up here for me. I submitted my job with all the settings i would kill to see with my own setup turned up a bit more... like all dials to 11.

burp, and that means you renderers, is saying I am 1 day away from full HD 4500 frame heaven.

I am in total AWE.

Check the youtube link, guess the tune... see what you think is comming....

what I do not know yet, is how to check the frames as they are rendered? how do you know it is gonna be of interest without that?

Thanks a distributed gazillion guys for chipping in with the renders... I totally feel like I can go into the studio this weekend and finish the sound to match (the tune is all there, but lyrics are personal)

Thanks again.. J

1 question though... how do i see any of the frames rendered? this is both my first project as a (ahem) slave and a master here.... I have not seen 1 of the completed frames... I dont know how you can say it is interesting without these?

Am I being dumb?

One way is to use CATS (as suggested), but CATS is mainly for retrieving all the frames in an automated way.

A different approach if you only want to have a look at a single frame is to take a look at one of the completed workunits for the session. When a workunit completes, a preview image will be added to the workunit page - both of the results of that particular part and of the entire frame that the part is in. You can click them to get a bigger-sized preview. Click that and you get a full-size preview.

A bug in the way that the server was unpacking image files before encoding them into a single movie file caused the main server to have some downtime early this morning (UTC). The bug has now been fixed and the encoder should now not only work again, but be quite a lot faster on big HD sessions.

The raw movie files for this session will be available as soon as the encoder has finished encoding them.

Thanks man... that is appreciated.

I have notice my animated texture (on the tv screen) has gone missing (packing fault?).

It is not a big problem though, I have split it off on to a different layer and rendered it on my mini farm at home. I\'ll composite it in later but the reflection of the screen will be missing on my post proc\'d files :(

As a way of saying thanks to everyone for your help... I have setup a mirror called burp.blenderuser.co.uk

Hope it helps :D

Reminds me a lot of Animusic... I don\'t know why. Can\'t wait to see the music go with it.

Did you find BURP on YouTube? I know that\'s how I found out about BURP. I\'d like to see the post processed video with sound soon. Use CATS and make sure you edit the sequence ID to add the leading zero.

\"Use the Blender-style sequence ID (%f4id) in CATS instead of the default sequence ID (%fid) if you want to add leading zeroes as is required by Blender image sequences.\" - Janus

If your texture was stored as a movie file this is a known problem. BURP currently does not support movies as textures.

Nah... my texture was all in individual files, but it is still under the same menu with blender because it is a series. I really believe blender had trouble packing it in.

Guess what... I bet I wanna see it more ;))

seriously thought... I have a download of the avi and I am very pleased with the look.

I am struggling a little with the CATS though. I have had it running a couple of days but it feels slower to download than if I rendered at home. I know I have the avi file, but I have compositing to do and I know from previous renders I have done that I will need to copy frame 0001 to frame 0000 before I encode to be 100% bang on with the syncronised music. Trust me 1/25th of a second really does make a difference with this.

So is there any other way than CATS to get the frames? I only have 700 or so frames at the moment. I would unpack the avi, but that kinda defeats the object of having high quality rendering like this done.

Thanks again for everyones efforts. You\'ll notice I have been pluging the whole BURP project on blenderuser.co.uk but this is purely because...

a) your doing good work here
b)it really works and now I believe
c) with all the bad things out there, it is so bloody good to see people use the internet in a new and positive way.
d) after a over a year of trying to grind this animation out, starting with writing \'Midi Import X\' and then learning more and more about blender and adding new stuff, testing 3d audio (oh yes.. the noises come from all the right places too) and then finally finding a rendering system to render it all in exceptionally nice high def video.... wow, I now believe again that I will finish this project. thankyou once again guys for all your help.

please feel free to skim through my (recently re-Onlined) blog site at http://blog.global6.net/julesd/ where you can find earlier renders and even some clues about the tune that you will finally hear.

CATS is still in early testing and has some limitations. One of these is a 35KB/s speed limit (was increased from 30KB/s previously). This speedlimit is imposed because the server does not yet correctly flag CATS data transfers as \"noninteractive bulk data\" - meaning that it will appear to our traffic shaper as \"just normal website traffic\". If CATS was allowed to download at full speed in this category it would slow down browsing for other people - for instance, this forum would be slower to access.
The limit in CATS will be removed when I get around to figuring out how to correctly flag the data transfer; the server will then be using the traffic shaper to dynamically adjust the limit instead.

So is there any other way than CATS to get the frames? I only have 700 or so frames at the moment. I would unpack the avi, but that kinda defeats the object of having high quality rendering like this done.

Probably. But it doesn\'t change the fact that downloading 4.6GB image data through a pipe limited to 35KB/s takes time (around one and a half days of continous downloading).

Sorry...I didn\'t read about the limitations before.... now I understand.... CATS had hung on my machine, but didn\'t look like it had. I restarted it and it is doing the 35kbs it says it was doing now :D still itching for the frames though \\:D/

I just figured how to decode ;)

ffmpeg -i s000674_movie_mpeg4_q85.avi -vcodec mjpeg %4d.jpg

seems to do it ok with blender type names

I think there\'s going to be a lot of missing data if you decide to decode a 67mb file to images rather than downloading 4gb of uncompressed frames.

Interesting, can you reproduce this error or can you describe what you did to make it happen?
