PowerPC Macs and earlier: no - this platform is hell.
64bit Intel-based OS X and later: it is possible to compile the clients for this platform but at the current time it is not officially supported and no official Mac clients are released here (although the experimental version is used on Renderfarm.fi).

Since this is all open source the community is free to compile clients for any platform and share them.

The reason why there is no official client even though the code is already there: I don't have a Mac and I don't plan to buy one. Also, you can't legally emulate OSX in VirtualBox according to the draconian EULA that Apple ships with it.

Sorry.

Just noticed, ORE (renderfarm.fi) has macos client, dated 14 sept 2011

it is Blender 4.92 (mt)

http://www.renderfarm.fi/apps.php

maybe you could collaborate with them and use their binary ? would be cool!

I'm using my Macbook to crunch for Renderfarm.fi. In most cases it's just as fast as my quad-core pc, while only using two cores.

With Blender 2.6x it is quite likely that we (both Renderfarm.fi and the main BURP distribution) will get most of our bindings compiled directly into the official client from Blender.org so that all we have to do is supply a platform independent python script and no longer have to compile our own clients When that happens we're one step closer to an official Mac release.

At Renderfarm.fi we are currently using the official release version of Blender for Windows and OS X. Once jbk moves into 2.6 era he should be able to simply deploy the client if he goes for our command line script.

(I landed into thread by googling about CATS problems for OS X)

I think it's time revive this thread. Can an OSX app please be deployed here now?
