If you have enough disk space to store whole uncompressed videos for every render, then you must be insane.

Come on... tell me. How much? 50 TB? 100? Half a petabyte? Do you use Amazon S3 or something?

At the moment 36.25TB of raw disk is allocated to BURP - and yes, it is slightly insane.
We don't use Amazon S3, it is quite expensive for the kind of access pattern that we have here.
