I am running this WU http://burp.renderfarming.net/workunit.php?wuid=2411048 for almost 14 hours on 8 cores and I have 0,178% of the task completed, is it normal? I could see that no one made this task till now, so I am a bit worried. What should I do? |

Yes it is normal. Continue crunching. Even if you exceed the limit to surrender, you get credit. Then I gave 2411029 ten hours after the limit. |

Nothing to worry about as already said, the percentage isn't a good indicator anyway. The other half of the same frame took 25 hours, also on an 8 core. So I guess you still have some hours to go. I've been having major issues with WUs lately. Recently, I had a WU in the 2824 session take >25 hours and never did complete. I'm working on WUs in the 2827 session and going on about 3 hours and only .570% complete even though it states the job has a run time of 2 hours 32 minutes. My systems is an 8-core CPU, 32 GB of RAM and lots of HDD. Are there any configuration setting within BOINC or the account profile that will help with these issues? Thanks! Dave |

The percentage is absolutely broken, you can't rely on it for anything. One thing that I've done with tasks that seem to go a really long time, is to look at my wingmen and make a rough estimation on how long it could/might take based on a comparison of the CPU cores/FLOP performance. But, I only do that if a task is really bugging me or taking a really long time. Note that the "deadlines" are not really enforced, so long as you produce a result (unless they're not started by then) you will get credit. They are there more for creating additional replications to help the session along in the queue. There is a huge variation in the length of tasks from this project, some may take 24 hours, some might finish in minutes. Usually it will depend on the session, but even within a session there can be a lot of variation depending on what's being rendered in that particular frame/part.
