This thread is for discussing the new upload interface for uploading projects to be rendered, not for uploading finished WU\'s ;)

We would really like some feedback from someone who try and upload a project for rendering, as we need it to complete the design of the interface.

ok... no important things... but...

- fontsize of upload-, settings- Headings etc. should be the size of the menuetitles on the left side... so you got a \"homogen\" (sorry, i don\'t got the english word for looking equal / equal design) style.

- Title of submit session is \"upload your ANIMATION\"... but downwards you say also stills... so that could be confusing... the user is able to upload stills and animation files...

- \"This page must be rewritten entirely from scratch before published.\" How to prepare your File...
:) It\'s already published :) Backgroundcolor like Burpdesign (gray) and everything is ok... i have understood that... and my english is REALLY bad... ;) You\'ve noticed already...

To diskuss:
If I don\'t want to upload... but want to look whats happening behind Settings etc. I got no chance to see. I have to upload... so there should be some screenshots... or dummy upload-system to discover...

Hopefully somebody understand my creepy english...

BURP ROCKS!!!

Greetings
Christian Sturm

hi,
I tried to upload a still session yesterday.I don\'t know if it BURP is aimed to render such a session(since BURP is described as :BURP aims to develop a publicly distributed system for rendering 3D animations.).
I say that because it\'s not possible to choose between still or animation(that makes settings a bit confusing for stills,e.g. for beginning and ending frame).

The rest of the interface seems good(i notice that you can\'t go back if the name of the session isn\'t accepted)

I saw the rendered outpout of my session and it\'s not what it was supposed to be^^. Certainly because i use features that are not imlemented yet(particles), it will be nice if you could repeat the current blender version that is used and features we cannot use(thanks in advance)

darkmog,
ps: sorry for bad english, if something is offending it was not my intention

Yes, it is right that BURP is geared towards animations, but you can also render stills if they happen to use a lot of CPU power.

I say that because it\'s not possible to choose between still or animation(that makes settings a bit confusing for stills,e.g. for beginning and ending frame).

A very valid comment. I will look into making this a lot more clear. Thanks!

Yes, I should have done this earlier. At the moment the renderfarm uses only version 2.37a - The plan is to upgrade to the current Blender version shortly.

Used the uploader, seamed pretty simple to use ;) Can\'t wait for BURP to make it public - render quality is about to improve.

the link \"Upload an animation/still\" could be replaced with something more obvious like \"Upload your Blender file\" or \"Upload your .blend\" or similar. (Or just \"upload your scene\" :)

Upload an animation/still suggests to me uploading an avi or PNG :)

How about some notes (reminders) there on final settings for the project?

Perhaps its an idea to allow (if technically possible) to adapt the required memory after submitting in case of estimates that are to high. (Sorry about that :)

The memory settings are the most confusing, so maybe this needs impromement. (like the steps, 128M, 265M, 512M, 1G 2G make sure memory requirements are always larger then actually needed, because you take the next step.

I have to used it a few times more to make a completer statement / review.

So far very good, but I set my memory predicion way to high. (256 would be enough, perhaps even to much, but I don\'t know about peaks (can\'t testrender every frame you see :)

Perhaps in the future used memory can be reported back and be ajusted on the fly. (for example frame 1 uses 70, frame 3 also, then its probably that 2 has similair requirements. (but that is not interface related)

cheers

I\'ve just submitted a Session to give BURP more work ^^

I\'ve noticed that you CANT (against that, what the description tells you) change your Animation-Description again...

Is there any way for BURP to find out the required amount of RAM itself?
BLENDER displays the needed Memory to render in the render-screen so isnt there any way to find that out automatically (like start and end frame and this things).

I see that rendering needs around 30MB at my side, so i took 128MB min. RAM so that there can be a little Buffer ^^

So far... I hope my Session will be rendered. It would be funny, seeing my old work in motion :)

The animation\'s description may be edited after the file has rendered. At that time an edit link will appear on that page for the owner of the session.

Ok, I found out the reason why it happens - it is part of the utility that validates emails that has a bug in it. It only affects people who have not yet validated their email.

I\'ll look into this as soon as possible.
