I know BURP is scheduled to be on summer break until September sometime...Is there any specific date for coming back online with work? I got tired of looking through red messages of no work from BURP, so I do not have it attached to BOINC scheduler at the moment...

Happy Labor Day!

No date yet, and at the moment we\'re a bit behind schedule. Most of the longterm storage program is still missing as well as support for the new Blender version.

However, support for additional renderers (a feature not on the schedule) is progressing a bit since Nicolas Alvarez is working on making a patch set for POVray. That might turn up to be interesting - and he may even be faster than me, meaning that we could potentially see Pov WUs before Blender WUs.

WOW... thats a nice News... Povray integration... i think there has been a Boinc/Povray Project some time ago... possibly you can get some sourcecode of that, to improve developmentspeed...

So don\'t be angry... but is there Yafray Integration in the \"possibility longterm shedule\"?

Sorry for bad and dumb asking...

You do a great Job... so go on... i am sure the community is awaiting the best Rendersolution at the internet... Your Work!!!

Have a great time...
Greestings!

Yes Yafray will eventually be supported (through the Blender file format). There has actually been a working Yafray enabled BURP patched Blender out a while ago, everything but texturing seemed to work back then. According to Renderplanet some of the \"recent\" (this is about a year ago) changes made their client magically support textures without unpacking too, so this may in fact be the case for the BURP one as well.

However, please understand that much of the development is on parts of the system that isn\'t related to what renderer is used. So adding support for a whole range of renderers is quite low priority right now.

Woo, news! :)
Nice to see you got that storage working! Server status page shows Backup, but Longterm B shows offline. Is that OK?

The next two steps of the \'coding vacation\' involves public testing of the new wrapper (and later of the new Blender code), so stay tuned!

Does that mean we\'ll get workunits before coding vacation ends?! GREAT \\o/

When the backup drive is mounted (which it will be when a backup is being written) you can see the backup drive listed in the list as well.
Longterm B isn\'t needed at the moment. By decreasing the number of running harddrives to a minimum there\'ll be less heat produced and less power consumed.

And yes, it\'s very likely that there will soon be some work to test.

Ahh ok. I misunderstood, thought what you had recently added was Longterm B. And \\o/ for the work!

isnt the POVray what \"RenderFarm@home\" is trying doing?

Home:
http://server2.povaddict.com.ar/pov/

About: (from boincstats forum under \"new projects\")
\"We\'re doing these fractal images as temporary work. Final goal would be to render POV-Ray images, but that\'s harder to implement.\"
(\"POVray\" was linked to the same page as thie thread is.)

It will be interesting so see who gets what done first and how they differ.

edit: n/m looks like the two of you are already in contect.
